Haven of Mercy

Founded approximately four years ago by evangelist husband and wife team Akash and Sahar, Haven of Mercy is a Christian Pakistani ministry supporting families, widows, and orphans–all who are homeless or hungry.  Sahar preaches every other week at her brother’s church; during the week they do neighborhood ministry helping the local children.

As of 2024, this ministry seeks to provide food, clothes, shelter, and educational needs for approximately 125 children in Pakistan.

In Pakistan, Christians represent about 1.3% of the population. In this Muslim-dominant culture, it is extremely difficult for Christians to obtain or hold an employment position. While this ministry does not own property or a building, they rely instead on a benevolent church or home to provide space to hold meetings and teach the children. They work hard and face many obstacles to keep the children fed daily.  Inflation continues to drive the cost of food and energy, making it even harder to make provision.

Haven of Mercy is expanding their ministry to minister to the brick kiln people. Families who borrow money and are unable to pay become slaves to the owners of the brick kilns until that debt is paid. Unfortunately, there are families four generations deep who are slaves at the brick kiln for an original debt. The ministry seeks to provide care for the children during this period and look for opportunities to purchase the families out of slavery.
