Meet Unfaulted
Last week, we (Kim & Katie) had the opportunity to meet with the founders of Unfaulted. They are a local charity from our portfolio of charities. We were so moved by what they are doing to support girls who have aged out of the foster system.
-20% of children in foster care will become instantly homeless at the age of 18
-Less than a 3% chance to earn a college degree at any point in their life
-70% girls who age out of the foster care system will become pregnant before the age of 21
-25% of children who age out of the foster care system will suffer from the direct effects of PTSD(National Foster Youth Institute)
Every other month, they host an Empowered Conference for girls from all over DFW that have aged out of the foster system. They build trusting relationships with the girls, helping them learn valuable life skills, as well as set and meet goals. They are doing everything they can to teach and empower these girls, preventing future homelessness.
